How does the door lock?

You will generally take off the manual latches of the door when you install the operator, the force of the unit pushing the door is usually acceptable, for added security you can install a delatching kit, which will enable you to keep some of the manual latches.

Why is there more than one button on my handset?

Many handsets have more than one button and can be used to open a second garage door, gates and even operate household appliances (additional accessories may be required to do this) – further details will be shown in the accessories section of this website.

I have lost a handset and am worried somebody may be able to access my garage?

It’s a simple process to clear all codes and re-programme the handsets you have, it will be detailed in the installation instructions but if you have any queries do not hesitate to give us a call.

Will other people be able to open my door with their handsets?

Every unit is coded into the individual unit so nobody else will be able to open your door, if a handset has been coded into 2 operators it is a simple process to clear the codes and re-programme.

What happens if the door hits something?

All motors have a stop and auto reverse system that will operate on hitting an obstacle, part of the installation and maintenance process is to set and check the sensitivity of this system. For added safety you could install photocells, these emit a beam across the opening and the door will not close if the beam is broken.

Do I need to carry out any maintenance?

Yes – the installation instructions will detail what maintenance is required and the frequency, it important that regular maintenance is also carried out on the door – If the door is not kept in good working order it will put extra strain on the motor and reduce its life.

How will I get my car out of the garage if there is a power cut?

All units have an internal manual release, if you are unable to get into the garage via another door you will need an external emergency release device

Will I be able to install the operator myself?

Anyone with reasonable DIY skills and patience should be able to install the operator with the clear instructions from the manufacturer, we recommend you read the instructions fully before starting. You will need a socket on the ceiling or side wall depending on the type of garage door you have to power the unit. Remember we are able to offer a professional installation service if Required

My door has become very heavy - will I be able to automate it?

It is important to know that an electric operator will only open a door in good working order and well balanced, as a rule of thumb you should be able to open I close the door with one hand.

Do you have a user guide? (maintenance / operating)

Yes, all our doors come with a maintenance & operating guide.

Can you also complete the building work required to allow for the new door?

We are a garage door specialist and would not undertake building work, we would recommend this work be carried out by a suitably qualified contractor.

This would depend on the product/s chosen, certain doors are manufactured to order and this along with colour options could have an impact on lead times etc. however, we would estimate that 90% of doors would be available within 2 – 6 weeks
